Greyhound
Greyhound the classic cocktail is traditionally prepared with just two ingredients; grapefruit juice and either Gin or Vodka as the spirit. This famous cocktail got its official name as “Greyhound” in print by, Harper’s Magazine in the year 1945. It was named so maybe because it was a popular cocktail at Greyhound Bus terminals. It is like the Salt dog without the salt.
Ingredients:
- Gin/Vodka – 50ml
- Grapefruit juice – 200ml
- Ice – 100gr
- Lemon (for garnish) – 1wedge
Process:
- Fill the Collins glass with ice.
- Add the Gin and the grapefruit juice and stir well.
- Garnish it with the lemon wedge and it’s ready to serve.
Bambo
Bambo is a simple drink, also known as Bumboo gets better depending on the resources on hand. It was commonly used in colonial British America during election campaigns.Ingredients:
- Sugar/honey – 2cubes
- White/ Dark rum – 60ml
- Water – 30ml
- Grated cinnamon (optional) – 1gr
- Grated nutmeg (optional) – 1gr
Process:
- Drop 2 sugar cubes into the rocks glass.
- Add rum and water to it.
- Stir and sprinkle cinnamon and/ or grated nutmeg.
Godfather
Glass: rocks glass
Ingredients:
- Scotch Whisky/Whisky -35ml
- Amaretto – 35ml
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes
- Pour the Scotch and amaretto over the ice and you are ready to serve.
Blue Ocean
Glass: rocks glass/highball glass
Ingredients:
- Vodka – 30ml
- Blue curacao – 15ml
- Sugar syrup – 14ml
- Grapefruit juice – 30ml
- Orange (for garnish) – 1slice
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Put some ice in the glass.
- Pour the vodka, blue curacao, and sugar syrup into it.
- Add 30ml of grapefruit juice or more if you want it to be even lighter.
- Finally, stir and garnish it with an orange slice.
Blueberry Tea
Glass: Toddy/Irish coffee glass
Ingredients:
- Amaretto – 25ml
- Grand Marnier – 25ml
- Black Tea – 150ml
- Orange/lemon (for garnish) – 1slice
- Cinnamon sticks (for garnish) – 1
Process:
- Pour the amaretto liqueur and the Grand Marnier into a glass.
- Top with black (English breakfast) tea.
- Before serving garnish it with an orange or lemon slice and cinnamon stick.
Alexander
Glass: Cocktail glass and a shaker
Ingredients:
- Cognac/Brandy – 30ml
- Crème de Cacao Brown – 30ml
- Cream – 30ml
- Grated Nutmeg (for garnish) – 2gr
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill the shaker with ic4e cubes.
- Add cognac, cream and crème de cacao to it.
- Give it a nice shake and strain it into a cocktail glass.
- Finally, garnish it with grated nutmeg and it’s ready to serve.
Rusty Nail
Rusty Nail is an IBA official after-dinner cocktail. It may be served on the rocks or neat.
Glass: rocks glass
Ingredients:
- Scotch Whisky -45ml
- Drambuie – 25ml
- Lemon (for garnish) – 1twist
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill the rocks glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the Scotch whisky and the Drambuie then give it a gentle stir.
- Finally, garnish the drink with a lemon twist.
Vampiro
Glass: Highball glass and a shaker
Ingredients:
- Tequila Blanco -50ml
- Tomato juice – 70ml
- Orange juice -30ml
- Lime – 1half
- Honey – 1tsp
- Onion – 1slice (half)
- Chilli – 2slices
- Worcestershire Sauce – 3drops
- Salt – 1gr
- Ice – 100 gr
- For garnish:
- Chili – 1
- Lime – 1wedge
Process:
- Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
- Pour Tequila Blanco, tomato juice, orange juice, and lime juice.
- Add a teaspoon of honey, onion, and a few slices of red hot chili pepper.
- Then add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce and salt.
- Shake well and strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
- Before serving garnish it with a lime wedge and chili pepper.
Yellow Bird
Yellow Bird is an IBM official all-day cocktail. It contains a nice amount of liquor with a touch of Galliano. You may add orange juice pineapple and banana. No matter how the ingredients are mixed, it always makes a good summertime cocktail. It’s neither the strongest nor the lightest cocktail that can be mixed up.
Glass: cocktail glass and a shaker
Ingredients:
- White rum – 30ml
- Galliano – 15ml
- Triple Sec/Cointreau – 15ml
- Lime – 1half/15ml
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
- Add white rum, Galliano, triple sec, and lime juice.
- Finally, shake and strain it into a chilled cocktail glass.
Zombie
This cocktail has its name for a reason. Its high alcohol
concentration is hidden with tasteful fruit juices, so beware of suddenly
becoming a zombie after this. Always feel free to alter the ingredients of the
cocktail according to taste.
Glass: Zombie/hurricane glass and a shaker
Ingredients:
- Gold Rum – 50ml
- White Rum – 50ml
- Dark Rum – 50ml
- Apricot Brandy – 50ml
- Pineapple juice – 50ml
- Papaya juice – 50ml
- Overproof rum – 20ml
- Grenadine (optional) – 1dash
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill the shaker with ice.
- Pour the white rum, gold rum, and dark rum.
- Add apricot brandy, pineapple juice, and papaya juice to it.
- Shake well and pour it in a ‘Zombie glass’ or hurricane glass.
- Add a dash of grenadine and top with 151-proof rum.
Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon is a popular cocktail drink from the 1980s movie “The Blue Lagoon”. It is believed to be created in Paris in the 1960s or early 1970s. it is typically garnished with an orange or a lemon slice.
Glass: hurricane glass/highball glass
Ingredients:
- Vodka – 30ml
- Blue curacao – 30ml
- 7-UP/Lemonade – 120ml
- Lemon (for garnish) – 1 wedge
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Put some ice into the glass.
- Add the vodka and the blue curacao.
- Top with lemonade.
- Give it a nice stir and garnish with a lemon wedge.
Black Russian
The Black Russian was invented in 1949 by Gustave Tops, a Belgian barman, and now it is an IBM official cocktail. The cocktail owes its name to the use of vodka, a stereotypical Russian spirit, and the blackness of the coffee liqueur.
Glass: Rocks glass
Ingredients:
- Vodka – 50ml
- Coffee liqueur/ Kahlua – 20ml
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill the rocks glass with ice.
- Pour vodka and coffee liqueur over the ice.
- Give it a gentle stir and serve it.
Banana Daiquiri
Glass: Goblet/Cocktail Glass Category: Moderately Strong
Ingredients:
- White Rum – 45ml
- Lime – 1half
- Sugar Syrup – 5ml
- Banana - 1half
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Put some crushed ice into a blender.
- Add 45ml of white rum, 20ml of lemon or lime juice, 5ml of sugar syrup, and half a fresh banana.
- Blend them until it is smooth and then pour into a chilled goblet.
This can be decorated with lemon peel, cherry, a slice of banana, or lime and ready to be served.
Milano Torino
Milano Torino is also known as “Mi-To”. This cocktail was
created around1860 in a café in Milan, Italy, and was named after its
ingredients: Campari is from Milan, and sweet vermouth is from Turin. With the
addition of soda, this drink turns into an “Americano” cocktail, and with gin,
it turns into the “Negroni”.
Glass: Rocks Category: Soft
Ingredients:
- Campari – 30ml
- Red Vermouth – 30ml
- Orange (for garnish) – 1 slice
- Ice – 100gr
Process:
- Fill the glass with ice and add 30ml of both Campari and sweet red vermouth.
- Give it a stir and garnish with an orange slice.
- Now it’s ready to enjoy.
Gin Rickey
This classic refreshing cocktail is considered the best of the “Rickey” group of cocktails, which is named after Joe Rickey. This mixed drink is made from Gin or bourbon, lime juice, and soda. Sometimes a little sugar is also added though it’s optional.
Glass: Highball Category: Soft
Ingredients:
- Gin – 50 ml
- Lime juice – 30 ml
- Lime (for garnish) – 1 wedge
- Soda – 70 ml
- Ice – 100 gr
Process:
- Fill the glass with ice and add the gin and lime juice.
- Then top it with soda and garnish with a lime wedge.
- Now it’s all ready to be served.
